Well there might have been at the beginning of the meal but there won’t be at the end if you’re using edible cutlery. The company behind this awesome Kickstarter is Bakeys. They’ve been around since 2011 and are doing some very innovative things with edible silverware.
We are gearing up to create the world's first mass produced edible cutlery. This has huge potential to prevent plastic waste.

Why Edible Cutlery?
One of the main problems with disposable utensils is that disposable means throw away. That translates directly into unnecessary waste which impacts the environment. That’s where Bakeys comes in with their take on utensils. You’ll never have to throw it away because it is part of the meal. These things are made out of nutritious millet bread and they have certification plans for this year (see below).
Flavors
These utensisls come in a wide variety of flavors that will complement endless meal combinations. Sugar, Ginger-Cinnamon, Ginger-Garlic, Celery, Black Pepper, Cumin, Mint-Ginger, and Carrot-Beetroot. The foodie in me is having a field day thinking of all the dishes these would go well with.
Certifications
This year they will be working towards a number of certifications that will make this product even that more appetizing to everybody.
All of these certifications listed above will ensure that the Edible Cutlery you are consuming is most likely healthier than the food you’re eating it with.
Kickstarter Progress
With a goal of pledged goal of $20,000 they’ve already exceeded that almost 7 times over. Right now there are 4,392 backers and a fund of $137,973 which shows just how eager people are to back this product.
